Britain?s Presidency of the European Union for the remainder of 2005 will see a commitment to promoting access and entitlement to cultural opportunities, encouraging the development of a more competitive regulatory environment for the European creative industries, and positive engagement with the EU institutions and fellow member states.
Improving the mobility of museum collections within the EU and co-ordinating digital cultural resources among members will also be on the agenda when Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell chairs meetings of the European Culture and Audiovisual Council of Ministers and directs the work of the Cultural Affairs Committee.
