Arts Minister Tessa Jowell has publicly backed proposals from the Arts Council of England (ACE) to restructure the funding system, abolishing the Regional Arts Boards and creating a single-tier national funding structure based on a series of regional executive offices reporting to a national strategic office and supported by a central support services team .
