Title Lincolnshire Arts Education Co-ordinator

Name of organisation Lincolnshire County Council

How long in present post? About 4 weeks

Address Horncastle Curriculum Centre, Horncastle, Lincolnshire LN9 6BW

Email simon.hollingworth@lineone.net

What does your organisation do?
Difficult to summarise. The post is funded by the LEA, the Youth Service, the Arts Service and East Midlands Arts, so I guess it does most things!

What does your current job involve?
Pulling together some of the excellent arts education work already taking place across this, frankly, HUGE county and shouting about it. Producing a funky arts education newsletter and, eventually, a funky arts education website (no it?s not a contradiction in terms)

Who did you used to work for and what did you do?
Until very recently I worked for South Kesteven District Council as the Education & Outreach Officer for Stamford Arts Centre and the Guildhall Arts Centre in Grantham.

What do you enjoy most about your present post?
So far? Travelling round the County and being inspired by people?s commitment and enthusiasm.

What do you find most difficult in your present post?
Four weeks in and you expect me to squeal? No way. Everything about this job is absolutely perfect.

What is your career ambition?
Apart from the usuals (bringing about world peace through participation in the arts etc) I?d like to have a go at managing a venue.

Who has influenced your career to date the most ? and why?
John Morrow, a drummer and artist (?purveyor of noise & mess?) whose passion, irreverence and mad enthusiasm are my constant inspiration.

If you could have done any job in the world, what would you like to have done?
Played the part of Elwood in The Blues Brothers.

If you had three wishes for the future of the arts, what would they be?
That the power of drama as a tool for learning would be fully appreciated.
That the arts could have the kind of social acceptability and normality enjoyed by sport.
That we could find a satisfactory phrase to replace the term ?the arts? that didn?t frighten off the majority of the population before we?d even started.
