First time title sponsorship from the Bank of Scotland has enabled the Children?s International Theatre Festival, Britain?s biggest performing arts festival for children and young people, to offer more international shows, an increased number of tickets for schools and a two week post-Festival Scottish tour of award-winning show, Moby Dick.
The Festival, which runs from May 28 to June 3, is the only event in Britain to present an intensive programme of international theatre for children. 11 theatre companies from 6 countries will entertain 12,000 children in 4 theatres over 7 days in Edinburgh. Funds from trusts have been obtained to pay the travel costs of over 80 schools to bring 7,000 children to the Festival from Edinburgh, the Lothians and across Scotland. The Festival also offers the opportunity for Scottish theatre practitioners, promoters and producers to see shows, take part in discussions and master classes, share experiences and knowledge, and forge partnerships.
