Head of Planning, Business Development & Operations
Salary: Starting from £40,792, rising to £48,677
The University of Bath’s Office for the Arts organises programmes for both public and campus engagement. We are seeking someone highly skilled in both income generation and operational delivery to form a key part of the management team responsible for our art and science centre (The Edge) and exhibition space (the Andrew Brownsword Gallery).
It is an important time for these destinations as we develop a brand for public engagement purposes, whilst maintaining a supportive ecosystem for student and staff users of The Edge.
Working with the Director of Arts you will draw on your experience of running arts venues to ensure a first class atmosphere for visitors and patrons whilst overseeing efficient operational processes and procedures to maintain a centre that is effective and fit for purpose.
At the same time you will utilise rooms at The Edge for third party hire and patron cultivation to produce a sustainable financial status, and work alongside the Director of Arts to foster partners, networks and funder relations. Deploying these skills together with an ability to identify and receive grants will see you set conditions to stimulate bold programmes of ‘art, research and adventure’, building upon recent piloting of activities at The Edge and Andrew Brownsword Gallery.
The role also undertakes evaluation and analysis of all aspects of department operation with a view to maximising effectiveness whilst minimising expenditure, working closely with University finance and deputising for the Director of Arts in this area.
Additionally you will work with the Director of Arts on organisational planning – including capital development and technical systems – to develop and grow arts assets, maintaining productive relations with colleagues from the Department of Development and Alumni Relations, AV, Computer Services, Estates, Security and others across the University.
