Swansea University

Swansea University has seen unprecedented growth and research success over the last decade which has brought it into the top 30 of the UK’s universities.  The University aims to deliver excellence in research, teaching, learning, and the wider student experience, and to be a powerhouse for the region and internationally.

Swansea is a coastal city that is both picturesque and cosmopolitan, offering an excellent quality of life. The University, which celebrated its centenary in 2020, has a beautiful parkland campus and a new beach-front campus in the city of Swansea.

The role is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional arts professional to join a thriving and ambitious University in a key leadership role, and to play a part in the regional arts ecosystem.

The Head of Cultural Services at Swansea University will be responsible for developing and delivering institution- and region-wide cultural and arts activities through a broad range of collaborative endeavours across the University and region.  This is an exciting role that will influence, develop and lead the University’s cultural strategy, approach and delivery.  The role will lead the successful Taliesin Arts Centre. The postholder will develop our artistic programme; working across the University and with a diverse range of local, regional and international communities and partners.

The Head of Cultural Services joins the University at an important time of change as we embark on the implementation of our new Business Plan (2021 – 2024) and develop the strategy for a wider arts and culture programme at the University.

We work closely and collaboratively with arts networks across the UK, and especially with the Arts Council Wales, Swansea Council and Neath Port Talbot Council, to develop and deliver high-quality arts programmes that reflect the changing needs of our audiences.

We value close collaboration with the students, staff and researchers, of the University, as well as widely across the region, in developing audiences and artistic talent.
