Storyhouse

You will work with the Technical Manager to successfully realise both home produced and touring programmes. You will have significant experience within this field and will be responsible for leading other technicians, full time and freelance in providing support to the theatre, cinema, library, Garret theatre and the organisation’s wider programme both in and out of our building.

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role within an operation of a similar size, scope and complexity.
  • Experience of managing and working to a budget.
  • Experience of mixing and operating multi-microphone theatre and musical theatre. As well as mixing live sound for music and bands.
  • Some experience with ETC EOS lighting consoles.
  • Experience with rigging including chain hoists, truss, counterweight flying.
  • Knowledge and experience of using radio microphones, including the planning, and programming of frequencies. Experience with DPA microphones.
  • Experience of PAT testing.
  • Electrically experienced, ideally with training in BS7909 or BS7671.
  • A good knowledge of D&B PA systems including R1 software and experience with Yamaha digital sound consoles.
  • Experience with video projection.
  • Experience with digital cinema projection (DCP) screenings.
  • Knowledge and experience of IP protocol and networking including specialist networking eg Dante, and control protocols such as OSC and Midi.
  • A flexibility to work across all technical disciplines when required to support the wider team.
  • ​Experience of programming sound and AV equipment including Black Magic cameras and broadcast equipment, and software, including Qlab, OBS and Symmetrix.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, approachable with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • ​An ambition to learn, support and be part of a talented creative team. Experience of leading crews during fit ups and get outs.

  • ​Calm, organised and flexible under pressure. Able to manage multiple, parallel streams of work, prioritising and problem solving in order to produce consistently high quality outputs to deadlines and within budget restraints.
