SPILL Festival

SPILL is an international festival of contemporary arts and activism presenting the work of exceptional artists from around the globe. We are seeking a dynamic Artistic Director to lead SPILL Festival into an exciting new era. The most senior position in the company, the successful candidate will develop a bold creative strategy for SPILL and then deliver it.

Alongside the festival, our year-round activities include the Think Tank programme, creating and showing our own projects, and shared work with young people. This role is to lead, shape and create all of it. As such we are looking for somebody to bring an artistic vision and sensitivity to both local and global communities.

The incoming AD will be a passionate inspiring leader who may already have a great track record working on festivals or maybe a killer future vision for SPILL. We are not looking for somebody just doing the festival rounds - this role is for someone who can bring the unexpected. You might be an artist, a producer, a curator or have other experiences which find a natural fit with us. And you do not have to be a graduate to apply - more than anything, we are looking for a balance of maverick ideas, attention to detail and dedication to making it all happen brilliantly.

SPILL has always focused on addressing social imbalances and foregrounding social justice. Anti-racism and proactive equity have always been at the centre of our work and succession planning and we are looking forward to a recruitment process that advances the radical spirit on which the company and festival were founded.

Closing date for applications: 5th January 2021
