We are looking for an experienced Equity, Diversity, Justice, and Inclusion (EDJI) Programme Manager support the delivery and monitoring of our organisational EDJI action plan, an ambitious programme of work which will enable us to fulfil our ambition of becoming a truly inclusive and actively anti-discriminatory organisation. Our goal is to ensure that the RSC is a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for audiences, colleagues, artists, and collaborators.

This new role will focus on coordinating, monitoring, and embedding all elements of EDJI work across our organisation, making lasting cultural change and ensuring we continue to evolve our practice. We need someone with a clear commitment to EDJI, together with knowledge and experience of delivering best practice in this specialist area. The successful candidate will connect the RSC to external networks and enable us to amplify the voices of those with lived experience of marginalisation and/or discrimination. Working pan-organisationally, you will engage, motivate, and encourage everyone working at the RSC to play their part in making the company an inclusive and safe organisation.

Reporting to the Head of HR, some of your responsibilities will include (please see the main job description and person specification for the comprehensive list):

  • Provide advice, guidance, monitoring, and reporting to facilitate and enable Company-wide embedding of EDJI actions
  • Ensuring the delivery, monitoring, and ongoing development of our EDJI action plan, so that all elements of EDJI activity across the organisation are held together
  • Championing, supporting, and nurturing informal and formal employee networks and affinity groups
  • Analysing data and providing insights and recommendations, monitoring progress
  • Reporting progress to the Senior Leadership Team, EDJI Committee and RSC Board
  • Contributing to the strategic development of the RSC and delivery of Company priorities as a member of the Company Steering Group
  • Ensuring appropriate tools are in place to challenge practices that fall below the high standards we require
  • Promoting health, welfare, and wellbeing

We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

  • Lived experience and an understanding of the inequalities affecting underrepresented and marginalised groups of people
  • Experience of delivering successful programme and project management in a complex organisation
  • Designing and delivering effective and intersectional EDJI policies, programmes, and practices, including anti-racism and anti-ableism initiatives
  • Delivering best practice in relation to building inclusive workplaces and tacking all forms of discrimination and bias
  • Knowledge of key issues including intersectionality, access and inclusion, and systemic and structural inequality, with the ability to influence cultural change
  • Ability to analyse data to act on key insights
  • Clear and effective communication skills at all levels and adapting approaches to suit the situation and audience
  • Strategic thinking and able to deliver practical solutions
  • A collaborative team player, who can build effective working relationships at all levels
  • Whilst this post is advertised as a permanent position, it can be offered on a fixed term basis, depending on the successful candidate's preferences, the duration of which would be a minimum of 24 months. The position is based in the HR department in Stratford-upon-Avon, with some home working and travel to other sites as necessary.

The RSC supports flexible working and anticipate that this role will work to a hybrid model, with 2-3 days on site each week, depending on work activity. The role is full time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings or other out of hours work to reflect working in the arts and culture sector.

We anticipate a two-stage recruitment process. The first stage will be an online panel interview, which will take place on either Tuesday 19 or Wednesday 20 July. The second stage will take place in Stratford Upon Avon in mid-August and will include a practical, discussion-led element. Further details will be provided nearer the time.
