The Edinburgh International Festival brings audiences and artists together from around the world for an unparalleled celebration of the performing arts. Every year we present a programme featuring the finest performers and ensembles from the worlds of dance, opera, music and theatre. Our impact extends beyond three weeks in August through our community engagement, creative learning and professional development programmes, reaching the widest possible audiences, and contributing to the cultural and socio-economic life of Edinburgh and Scotland.

Our mission is to present an international programme of the highest quality to a wide and diverse audience. With a turnover of £12 million, enhancing our financial sustainability is essential through growth in income from ticket sales, fundraising and sponsorship as well as continued investment from key partners such as City of Edinburgh Council and Creative Scotland. We now seek to appoint a new Executive Director, to succeed Joanna Baker who steps down at the end of 2018. Working closely with Festival Director Fergus Linehan, this leadership position is responsible for our long-term strategic development as well as the successful delivery of operations at the annual festival, the trading subsidiary and ongoing partnerships.

With the proven ability of leading and inspiring a senior and high-performing team, the new Executive Director will bring extensive previous experience of leading significant and successful change across a complex organisation. Candidates will demonstrate the capacity to translate their experience into this world-leading, professional artistic environment, with the personal credibility to build effective relationships across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, and a clear commitment to delivering the Edinburgh International Festival’s aims and ambitions.
