MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To ensure the effective and efficient marketing of The Dukes and the maximum possible audience development in line with the Company’s artistic policy.
POSITION IN ORGANISATION:
- Reports to the Director
- Line management responsibility for Box Office Manager
- Line management responsibility for Marketing Officers
- Liaises at all levels within the Company.
SCOPE OF JOB
- Responsible for the development and implementation of marketing and audience development strategy
- Responsible for leading audience development working with the Director and Creative Learning Manager
- Supporting the Director with programming and overseeing aspects of programme evaluation
- Responsible for communications and press activity
- Lead the Dukes digital strategy and output across the organisation
- Key contributor to The Dukes development activities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing and delivering marketing budget
- Lead the organisations digital output and oversee GDPR and data protection
- Monitoring and interpreting data and managing income targets
- Line management of Marketing and Box Office teams
- Recruitment of marketing and box office staff and volunteers
- Act as a representative of the organisation including working directly with partners
DUTIES
Marketing campaign strategy
Accountable and responsible for the planning of campaigns to include:
- Season and show strategy devising and delivery
- Budgetary control, sales and target information
- Identification of existing and potential audiences
- Monitor and evaluate campaigns
Hands on delivery of senior activity to include:
- Overseeing compilation and distribution of company print including season brochures
- Writing and delivering strategic / multi-year campaigns
- Liaising with visiting companies, the voluntary arts sector and freelance suppliers
- Creating marketing assets for in-house productions
Audience development
- Gather and share intelligence on actual and potential audiences
- Identify priority audiences and geographic areas for development
- Develop a coherent response to schools engagement and group bookers
- Devise and develop a marketing strategy for new and emerging audiences
Communications and Digital
- Develop good relationships with local, regional and national media contacts
- Ensure regular story output
- Champion and develop the Dukes brand
- Build relationships with key stakeholders
- Oversee the Dukes Digital strategy and directly manage the organisations digital output across all platforms
Development activities
- Contributing to the Dukes development meetings
- Contributing to and supporting the Dukes’ fundraising group including production of marketing assets
- Supporting the development of new patrons / individual giving schemes
Line management and development of marketing and box office teams
- Staff development, coaching and appraisals
- Championing standards and targets including customer service
- System administrator for the box office software (SR04)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Educated to degree level or holds a professional formal qualification
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- At least 24 months marketing experience within an arts organisation.
- Experience of line managing staff
- Experience of developing and managing budgets
- Strong IT skills including knowledge Web Based Content Management Systems and Graphic Design packages.
- Knowledge of box office / customer relationship management systems
- Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
SALARY: £25,000 - £27,000 per annum, subject to experience.
PENSION: Auto Enrolment pension
HOURS: 39 hours per week. Hours will be flexible as evening and weekend work will occasionally be required. No overtime is payable but time off in lieu may be taken with agreement of line manager.
HOLIDAYS: Annual holiday entitlement is 20 days per year plus bank holiday entitlement. This increases to 25 days per year after the two years’ service.
NOTICE PERIOD: 8 weeks
