Create London commissions ambitious new art and arts infrastructure in the public realm and we seek to positively impact civic and community life. Our belief is that working in public settings can enrich creative practice and that working with artists can in turn benefit civic and community life.
This year, we are embarking on some of our most ambitious projects to date, with a new building in Barking providing affordable and secure accommodation for 12 artists’ households with a community hall; we are also working on a £1.2m project to mark the centenary of the UK’s largest housing estate, the Becontree Estate, and more major projects in development.
We are seeking a new Chair to lead this exciting and ambitious new chapter for the organisation. The ideal candidate will already have charity experience at Board, senior executive or Director level, a full understanding of the requirements required for good governance, excellent relationship-building skills and a passion for the arts.
We are committed to increasing the representation of Black and minoritised people across our organisation. We therefore particularly welcome applications from people in these under-represented groups. We welcome candidates from any sector. Previous experience within a not-for-profit environment as a chair, trustee, or a non-executive director would be helpful.
