Trusts and Foundations Manager
£39,000 per annum
Fixed Term Contract, 12 months from 1 March 2019

We are looking for a Trusts and Foundations Manager to grow and maximise income from UK trusts, foundations and statutory sources as part of the Library’s ambitious Living Knowledge fundraising campaign, working on a variety of projects from heritage acquisitions and digitisation to learning programmes and major exhibitions. You will be able to demonstrate a substantial track record of securing five and six-figure grants and sustaining relationships with these organisations. You will be proactive in seeking out new opportunities, developing new project ideas and shaping them to ensure they are attractive to external funders.

You will be a confident individual with excellent written, verbal and presentation skills and the confidence to deal with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including senior Foundation staff and Trustees. A collaborative, determined, open and honest approach to align with the Library’s values and purposes will also be vital as will the ability to thrive in a creative and fast-paced environment. The British Library is one of the world’s greatest libraries, with over 200 million collection items in every subject and across all languages – from Magna Carta and Shakespeare, to Michael Palin and the Beatles. Treasures include manuscripts by Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte and George Eliot; original scores from Beethoven, Handel and Mozart; and the world’s earliest complete and dated book, the Diamond Sutra. The Library’s purpose is to make the UK’s intellectual heritage accessible to everyone, for research, inspiration and enjoyment and each year, over 11m collection items are accessed onsite or online and approximately 1.6m visit the Library to use our reading rooms, view our exhibitions, or participate in our events programme or learning workshops.
