About The Role

Do you want to play your part in putting Birmingham Hippodrome communications centre stage?

You will have a track record of delivering creative and impactful show campaigns and local PR coverage

This is an outstanding opportunity to use your expertise to build and shape our communications strategy for main stage show productions and those in the Patrick Studio – which see over half a million visitors every year.

Whether setting up a PR stunt for Evita on the balcony of Birmingham Council House, arranging a pop up performance of Stomp at the Bullring or landing a Vietnam helicopter in the Midlands to celebrate Miss Saigon, our communications have become the talk of the town. We have become known for our sector-leading campaigns and ground-breaking social media - and need the right candidate to continue this success and take us to the next level.

Overseeing a direct report you will ensure our messaging reaches the widest possible audience in line with organisational strategy. We will look to you to positively develop our reach and reputation through print, broadcast, online and social media engagement as you create new ways to engage with the changing face of communications and media, as well as identify opportunities to link productions with non-show activity through our communications.

Of graduate calibre, and ideally with a journalism or marketing qualification, you will have experience in a media and digital communications role. You will have a track record of delivering creative and impactful show campaigns and local PR coverage.  You will have also worked across digital platforms on successful social media strategies and are comfortable using analytical tools to measure performance and drive continuous improvement.

Good at copy-writing, researching, editing, proofing and originating printed and digital communications, you will possess excellent communication and relationship management skills. You will also have strong commissioning skills and a creative journalistic sense.
