St George’s Bristol

St George’s Bristol is one of the UK’s leading concert halls, welcoming 120,000 visitors to the building each year and staging 500 events through its artistic, learning and commercial activity strands. With an established reputation for excellence in live performance, our culturally diverse programme and acoustically acclaimed auditorium attract the world’s best classical, jazz, folk, contemporary and world musicians, and spoken word artists. Alongside our annual artistic programme, we deliver an award-winning Learning & Participation programme, engaging with around 4,000 children and young people each year.

St George’s is well-set for the future with the completion of a £6.5m capital project relaunching the venue in 2018. Our award-wining pavilion-style extension and other improvements offer a new café bar, a permanent Heritage Interpretation Exhibition, and multi-purpose performance and exhibition spaces, all of which support our vision to be ‘a creative and imaginative space for music and ideas at the heart of our community’. We provide a unique cultural home for a diverse range of creators in Bristol and the South West.

The Board of Trustees is seeking an experienced and inspirational new Chief Executive to lead St George’s into the next phase of its development as it comes out of this challenging time for all the arts. Support from the Culture Recovery Fund, together with other grants, provide a stable financial base on which to build an exciting future for St George’s.

Our ideal candidate will be a senior leader in the arts, with proven experience of managing teams and substantial budgets and a passion for, and knowledge of music. You will be ambitious to make your mark on an already successful organisation, maximizing the opportunity to develop a long-term strategic plan for growth that will deliver St George’s artistic vision, deepen its engagement with Bristol’s diverse communities, and expand its commercial activities.

At St George’s we seek to put individuals with different cultures, perspectives and experiences at the heart of the way we work. We want to recruit, develop and retain the most talented people, regardless of their background, and make best use of their talents. We are guided by our values in everything we do, and recognise that being an inclusive employer helps us fulfil our responsibility to make a positive difference for our organisation and for the city.

We are committed to promoting equality across the organisation and we welcome applications from all communities, specifically those which are underrepresented in the arts.
