The Oxford School of Drama

Head of Marketing and Communications

Salary: c. £30,000 FTE
Terms: 3 days/24 hours per week

The Oxford School of Drama is seeking a creative and dynamic individual to join its small, high achieving team.

The youngest of the leading UK Conservatoire Drama Schools, the Oxford School of Drama has, over a relatively short period of time, developed into one of the most highly rated. It has a unique and beautiful setting in the Oxfordshire countryside and provides the perfect place for students to immerse themselves in developing their craft.

The Oxford School of Drama prides itself on its independence and its vocational approach to accredited training for talented students. There are no academic requirements for entry - only the potential to succeed as a professional actor. The School offers 3 courses, Three Year and One Year Diplomas in Professional Acting and a six month Foundation Course. The School runs outreach programmes to widen participation and ensure there is a diverse intake and that the students are representative of our wider national communities. Over 1,000 aspiring students apply for 80 places across the 3 courses each year. The School’s award-winning alumni secure leading roles in film, television and theatre.

The School is in an exciting period of development with new leadership following the recent appointment of a new Principal, Edward Hicks.

The Head of Marketing and Communications will be responsible for devising, planning and delivering marketing, media and communication strategies that promote the School and all its activities. The core purpose of the role is to attract a wide range of applicants to the School’s courses and ensure the maximum exposure to the industry for graduating students.

Working closely with the Executive Director and Principal, the Head of Marketing and Communications will play a key role in ensuring the overall success and reputation of the Oxford School of Drama.

The ideal candidate will have experience of traditional and digital marketing and communications channels. You will possess exceptional interpersonal skills and will be comfortable working on your own initiative. Ideally you will have experience of working in performing arts training or within the performing arts industry.
