Ovalhouse

Artistic Director/Chief Executive

For over 50 years Ovalhouse has created vibrant, relevant theatre, supporting and nurturing emerging talent and established artists. Our openness to fresh perspectives has kept us at the forefront of artistic creativity, drawing on alternative ideas, social movements and issues relevant to those who may sit on the periphery of mainstream and often challenging the status quo. We commission, co-produce and programme innovative productions and support a full range of inclusion and youth leadership projects for young artists. We are funded as an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation.

In 2020 Ovalhouse will be moving to its new home as part of an exciting community partnership with London Borough of Lambeth that will see new homes, community and health facilities, social enterprises and our new, fully accessible modern theatre in the heart of Brixton.

This is an exciting time to join Ovalhouse as its new Artistic Director/Chief Executive, creating a vision for the new theatre and leading the organisation into its next phase of development. We are seeking an exceptional individual to re-imagine and cultivate the Ovalhouse of tomorrow.

Our ideal candidate will have successful leadership experience in an arts context, together with experience as a practitioner with a focus and expertise in at least one area of Ovalhouse’s spread of engagement, producing and artist development work. The Board is flexible in its approach and will consider applications from directors, theatre producers, programmers or artists with experience of making successful work on stage.
