Director of Communications & Sales
Northern Stage is seeking a dynamic and experienced communications specialist to lead the Communications and Sales team during 2020 as the theatre celebrates its 50th birthday.
In addition to the theatre programme, the 50th birthday will be marked with a series of events and fundraising campaigns presenting an excellent opportunity to raise the profile of Northern Stage both locally and nationally.

You will set key aims, objectives and outputs for the department, and devise and implement sustainable strategic marketing campaigns to maximise income through box office, ancillary sales and individual giving. You will use the 50th birthday as a catalyst for raising awareness of Northern Stage amongst current and potential audiences, participants, funders, sponsors, the UK theatre industry and other stakeholders.
The Director of Communications & Sales is one of the key strategic leaders in the development and delivery of our work with communities in Byker, and in evolving our growing relationship with Newcastle University. You will work closely with senior colleagues to achieve the organisation’s objectives, particularly the Director of Participation and Senior Producer, to develop an effective audience development strategy; the Development Associate, to create compelling campaigns for donors and stakeholders; the Business Development Manager, to develop income from commercial and sources; and the Theatre Manager and Front of House Manager, to devise and deliver the highest standards of customer and visitor service.
