b-side CIC

Portland is an amazing place. A tied island, rich in landscape, industrial heritage, social history and community action. b-side is an amazing arts organisation, based on the Isle of Portland, supporting contemporary artists to co-author site-specific and site-responsive projects with our communities, then showcasing them in the biennial b-side festival.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR...

A creative, visionary leader to drive the organisation’s ambition and expand our portfolio of funders. You will be an energised and positive team player who is able to engage others, work to specific goals, ‘get things done’ and design and deliver longer-term projects. This is a unique and special opportunity to work with a small, ambitious and forward-looking team, which is forging new plans for future development.

You will play a key role in devising and leading change, working collaboratively with colleagues and in partnership with stakeholders in order to realise the full scale of b-side's considerable ambition. You’ll be passionate about the value of the arts within communities and committed to encouraging diversity amongst providers, participants and the governance of the organisation.

ABOUT B-SIDE

b-side is an internationally recognised and locally loved arts organisation that both embodies and enriches the Isle of Portland in Dorset. The island is the beating heart that inspires b-side’s work, but our reach extends nationally and internationally. B-side is part of Arts Council National Portfolio.

Every two years, our b-side festival brings new, unique art to local audiences and visitors, sharing incredible stories about and with the Isle of Portland, as well as the rest of the world.
Our current Director is retiring in September. We are looking to recruit a new Director to join our small, talented professional team ahead of next year’s 2021 Festival in September and lead our next Arts Council England NPO bid.

As the new Director you will be expected to:

  • lead b-side collaboratively
  • be a leading advocate and ambassador for this extraordinary organisation
  • be responsible for income generation, financial management and people management
  • contribute to the creative and curatorial programmes
  • be a board director of the b-side CIC

Above all you would be expected to build on twelve years of growth and achievement, and lead b-side’s development into the next decade of its evolution.

See our website for more details including a recruitment pack, videos and more.
