Newhampton Arts Centre (NAC) is looking for new board members. NAC is a busy arts centre based just outside Wolverhampton city centre. Annually it presents over 100 live shows (rock, pop, jazz, folk, drama) in the theatre.
Every week there are over 20 classes from yoga to visual art and English as a Second Language. There is a strong families and community programme which offers holiday activities, theatre for young children and work with local schools. NAC is also home to over 20 resident creative and community organisations including a radio station, two recording studios, a cluster of visual artists and community organisations working with disabled children and offering social care to adults with learning disabilities.
The board are responsible for ensuring NAC is run in a proper and professional manner and focuses on delivering its mission: to provide culture and leisure opportunities for Wolverhampton and working to improve quality of life in the city. NAC is a National Portfolio Organisation of Arts Council England and is supported by Wolverhampton City Council and City of Wolverhampton College.
Board members meet every 8 weeks for a couple of hours and discuss with senior staff issues relating to the running and future of the organisation.
Members also get involve in the life of the centre, attend events and represent NAC in other networks. We are keen to diversify the board membership to become more representative of our local communities, and would urge anyone interested to find out more.
Now is an exciting time to join the board as we progress our COVID-recovery plans, including a major capital project.
