acta is a well-established community theatre based in Bedminster, Bristol and works all over the city with a diverse mix of people and communities. Our mission is to create high quality, relevant theatre with vulnerable and socially isolated people from all generations and cultures through an open access and free creative programme. We aim to provide positive and enjoyable shared experiences, building friendships and a shared appreciation of common humanity. We place diversity, equality and inclusion at the heart of what we do.
acta is a National Portfolio Organisation of Arts Council England, and receives further funding from The Paul Hamlyn Foundation, BBC Children in Need, and St Monica’s Trust amongst others. We are based in our own premises in BS3 that includes a 100 seat theatre, studio, café and offices, as well as a community garden.
About the role
As Communications Coordinator you will play an integral part in helping the organisation reach as many people as possible through a wide variety of channels including website management, social media and print copy. You will support the core artistic team and Associates to deliver acta’s busy programme of community theatre workshops and shows both at the actacentre, and in the community. You will also be responsible for Audience Development, and deliver front of house operations.
What we are looking for
A committed and creative professional with excellent verbal and written communication skills, who also has graphic design experience. Relevant experience and knowledge in marketing and communications, including excellent digital and social media skills, are also vital. Importantly, we are looking for someone with a demonstrable commitment to acta’s mission and values.
