Tavistock Institute of Human Relations

We are inviting applications for 2021-22 - closing date is 29 March 2021

In essence, Deepening Creative Practice with Organisations is a boundary transcending opportunity where one can explore their whole selves in relation to organisational leadership as well as their individual creativity. This trans-disciplinary programme is focused on experimentation, reflection, difference and risk.

You do not have to be an artist to engage in creativity and imagination – instead, you can nurture this aspect of yourself regardless of your experience, in order to benefit and rethink your organisational practice.

This programme is co-created and co-curated, meaning that everyone involved has a voice in deciding how the programme develops and take shape.

Deepening Creative Practice is directed and facilitated by the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations, which recognises the importance of treating the arts and organisational life as intertwined as opposed to segregated.

Consequently, it welcomes participants from a variety of backgrounds, to push you beyond your comfort zones and confront preconceptions about art and organisation.

While the pandemic caused universal disruption, this year’s cohort decided to work with it as opposed to against it. Adapting the seasonal structure so that it could work online, through the transition from the physical to the virtual, we discovered a new form of connection that can occur behind a computer screen.

As a temporary organisation, there have been new obstacles to face and new benefits to reap, all the while preparing the participants for the online workplace. Whilst some may view Zoom as a boundary, Deepening Creative Practice has viewed it as an opportunity to reassess what it means to work as an organisation, a creative practitioner, in a group and with yourself.
Deepening Creative Practice with Organisations is a context-sensitive programme that works to creatively adapt to the current goings-on of the world. Therefore, we are excited about running its second year whether it be online, in person or both depending on what the world decides to throw at us.
