Bursary Opportunity Time to Stare

With over thirty years experience in the arts and creative industries, B&R Productions acknowledge the need for practitioners to become more resilient, more innovative and more sustainable and do so in ways that do not compromise an original passion or creative process.

“Methinks that the moment my legs begin to move, my thoughts begin to flow.”  Henry David Thoreau

To facilitate this, we have secured funding from ACE to launch two, annual, residential arts bursaries for the development of a specific project or work, giving small and medium sized companies and arts partnerships the time and the environment in which to take stock, develop ideas and strategy and equip themselves with the wherewithal to thrive in increasingly challenging circumstances.

The residencies accommodate up to four people (2 x 2 sharing with the option of others joining on a daily basis) for five days at The Studio in rural Three Oaks, East Sussex providing time away from the daily demands of management and delivery; time to think, to generate and explore new ideas. With a multitude of footpaths and walking routes through historic 1066 country, including coastal, wood and farmlands, participants will be facilitated and encouraged to use the natural environment.

Professionals from a variety of backgrounds form the Time To Stare Mentor and Selection Panel and each residency will include a dedicated half-day with your chosen mentor. We have brought together professionals from a variety of backgrounds to join the Time To Stare Mentor Panel in order to facilitate stimulating conversations and innovative ways of thinking, crossing inter-disciplinary barriers and encouraging creative investigations of the human condition from a wide range of perspectives. In addition, we hope that bursary recipients will be enabled to consider new contexts, platforms and ways to engage with audiences, whether this be in the public realm, through strategic partnerships and or research based enquiry.

Applications are open to small to medium sized arts organisations and individuals seeking to develop a new work or company strategy.

Closing date: October 19th  2018

The residency will take place from February 22 - 27 2019
