The Harlequin Puppet Theatre in Rhos-on-Sea has cancelled performances after someone started a fire that caused thousands of pounds’ worth of damage. The theatre is insured against damages but not for loss of earnings.

South London pub to be reborn as theatre space

Bellingham’s Fellowship Inn is to benefit from a £4m restoration, which will see the upper hall of the pub become a live music and theatre venue, with space for 250 people standing or 150 people sitting, and the creation of music studios and a cinema. It will enter Arts Council England’s national portfolio as a ‘Sector Support Organisation’ and be a key partner in delivering the recommendations from a recent cross-parliamentary report on the arts and wellbeing.

National museums relying more on government grants
