Aberdeen Art Gallery to reopen

The gallery, which has been closed since 2015 and was originally due to reopen late in 2017, will reopen to the public in November. A £34.6m redevelopment of its Schoolhill building has been “a tremendous civic project”, Aberdeen City Council’s culture spokeswoman Marie Boulton said.

Government officials are encouraging the Hallé Orchestra to resubmit plans for a school in Stoke-on-Trent next year. The orchestra hopes to provide mentoring for 11 to 16-year-olds, opportunities to perform in its choir and youth orchestra, and a musician in residence scheme.
