A comprehensive review of the visual arts sector in Scotland is to be informed by the findings from an online consultation. The Scottish Contemporary Art Network has been commissioned by Creative Scotland to undertake an initial mapping exercise of the visual arts across the country to reveal the range and diversity of practice. Two questionnaires, one for individuals and one for organisations, will gather the views of artists, curators, producers, academics, galleries, arts organisations and others with an involvement in the sector, to help build “a comprehensive picture of the people, places, resources and relationships that are so vital to the health of the visual arts in Scotland.” The mapping exercise will feed into a series of open sessions with those working in the visual arts, designed to consider the findings of the surveys and identify priorities for future development in the sector.
