A new consortium is preparing to support the development of carnival artforms spanning music, movement and costume making. Aiming to raise the profile of carnival and the benefits it brings to communities, the partners hope to demonstrate the positive impact it can have on neighbourhood regeneration, education, business development, tourism and community cohesion. The consortium, which covers London, the South East, South West and East of England, comprises four carnival organisations: The New Carnival Company, St Pauls Afrikan Caribbean Carnival, and Carnival Arts and Masquerade Foundation, alongside the national body, the UK Centre for Carnival Arts.
