What happens in the week of a Communications Manager? Nicola Osmond-Evans of RIBA fills us in. Nicola Osmond-EvansSwipe /click to begin MondayWe’re currently working towards an exhibition of the architectural schemes of Mies van der Rohe and James Stirling. On Monday I visited the RIBA archive store in Fulham, south west London, to see the exhibition team unpacking and inspecting the detailed site model of the Mies van der Rohe scheme, which has just arrived with us. TuesdayOn Tuesday I arranged for the photographer from London’s Evening Standard newspaper to have exclusive access to the team, where he captured the conservationist re-assembling the site model. It’s one of the most impressive architectural models ever made and will be on display in the exhibition for the first time in over 30 years. WednesdayOn Wednesday we were very pleased to see coverage of the exhibition in the Evening Standard. I then issued the press release more widely to other newspapers and magazines. ThursdayOn Thursday I was working with the Exhibition and Marketing teams. We agreed the lead imagery for the campaign – this one of the Mies-designed tower block by John Donat, which was sourced from the RIBA Picture Library. FridayOn Friday I researched and drafted some copy for our social media channels. The design history of the two schemes spans three decades of the mid-20th century, making for some really interesting content. It was a highly transitional period in the history of architecture, where the movements and influences of pop art, high modernism and postmodernism co-existed and collided.
