Conductor SIR SIMON RATTLE will return to London in 2017 to become Music Director of the London Symphony Orchestra. He has been Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Berliner Philharmoniker for the past 12 years, but hinted earlier this month that he would like to return to the UK if it built a “proper” venue for classical music. His comments have resulted in a feasibility study for a new ‘world-class’ concert hall for London.
