Derby Theatre

Head of Development

The post holder will be able to craft high quality communications that reflect the theatre’s distinctiveness

Derby Theatre is seeking a talented development professional to join the team and lead its fundraising and sponsorship activities.

The Head of Development is responsible for planning and implementing Derby Theatre’s fundraising strategy to support the development of the theatre and in particular its Learning Theatre agenda.

Derby Theatre has pioneered a new vision of what a regional producing theatre can be with its ground-breaking Learning Theatre model, which was established in 2013. This has transformed the theatre from a traditional producing house into an organisation that places learning at the heart of its mission.

At Derby Theatre professional production and learning opportunities go hand in hand and the critical acclaim and industry recognition that the theatre has received over the past few years are testament to the success of this unique approach.

The post holder will be able to craft high quality communications that reflect the theatre’s distinctiveness and effectively make the case for support. As a member of the Senior Management Team, the post holder will turn the theatre’s unique brand proposition and innovative creative projects into compelling funding applications and corporate and individual giving packages. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising across public and private giving, and demonstrable experience of securing major grants, gifts and sponsorship.
